Sally Anne Fitter (born 1963) studied ceramics at Bristol Art School gaining a First Class Honours Degree. She went on to teach art and ceramics at Latymer Boys School, London. After a textile design course at Chelsea School of Art, Sally set up and ran ‘Digby Morton’, a textile design studio in London. Her designs have been selling worldwide for nearly 10 years to clients such as Ralph Lauren in New York and Liberty of London.
She now focuses mainly on still lives using everyday objects along side flowers. She incorporates pattern, texture and colour into her work to create her vibrant lifelike, slightly abstract pieces.
She is inspired by the flowers themselves, taking in their colour and contrast and working that into the patterns and textiles that accompany the main subjects in her work. Elements of collage are sometimes used adding a 3D like effect to the flowers, table tops and material that can be found in her pieces, such as this striking sailing scene.
Sally Anne now lives and works in Norfolk. In 2003 she turned professionally to painting. She primarily concentrates on the varied forms of still life; she has an imaginative eye for colour, with a warm, rich palette.
Her original works are in collections all over the UK and beyond.
